Project Description: We would like to do a project with 11-12 year olds about respecting other cultures, celebrating our similarities and differences across Europe. Our students will be creating a short video about what they think our teenage culture is, including areas such as school, daily routine, music preferences, hobbies, celebrities and fashion. We will aim to get the students to make the videos fun, humorous and cheesy. We will also look at whether some stereotypes about different nationalities are true or not... yes we do drink a lot of tea in Britain but no we do not all binge drink!
I need other cultures and countries to get involved with making videos about their teenage culture so that students can see the similarities and differences and gain more knowledge about our fellow European citizens! This will be done mainly in English although I hope schools will try to incorporate some of their own language too.
Aims: Knowledge, respect and appreciation of other European cultures, their similarities and differences.
Work Process We will share our ideas and deadlines before the project begins on which areas of teen culture we would like to share in our videos and what sort of media to use, how we will share them etc. I intend to begin the project at the end of January / beginning of February. By March we will have completed the filming and will begin editing. By April/May we should have the finish result and will send them on to the other schools.
Expected results Individual videos from each school.
